Meet The Judges
Andrew Campbell is an experienced political campaigner. He cut his teeth in student politics on the campaign to end interest on student loans and increased funding to Student Job Search. He was the Campaign Director at the finance workers union before moving to be Communications Director for the Green Party during their successful 2011 and 2014 election campaigns. He most recently worked on media for Justin Lester’s successful campaign for the Wellington mayoralty. Andrew’s expertise is in political and media strategy and has experience in ground and digital campaigning
Paul Young is a campaigner for clean energy and “a future that’s not shit.” He co-founded a youth-led movement that has massively increased awareness of, and action on, climate change in New Zealand. Generation Zero has a central purpose of providing solutions for New Zealand to cut carbon pollution through smarter transport, liveable cities, and independence from fossil fuels. The organisation runs a number of campaigns to call for greater action from local and central government on the issue.
Laura O'Connell Rapira
Laura is the Director of Campaigns at ActionStation – a community organisation representing over 100,000 members that combines digital tools and people power to drive a fairer, more just and sustainable Aotearoa.
She is also the Co-founder of RockEnroll – a volunteer-run organisation dedicated to building and activating political power for young people through grassroots community organising and popular culture.
Simon is a New Zealand political activist and trade unionist. Specialising in media strategy, he has a very long list of successful campaigns to his name, which include campaigns to improve wages of supermarket and fast food workers, animal rights, the meat workers lockouts, stopping the funding cuts to the hospitals, and much much more. He is currently an organiser and campaign strategist with the PSA
Priyanca has spent over a decade working as an advocate and policy analyst with some of the most vulnerable members of society - women survivors of domestic violence, and migrant workers who have been exploited. She currently works as a policy advisor to the Labour Party, specifically working with ethnic communities across Aotearoa New Zealand. She joined the Labour Party in 2006 and has worked on the internal party policy development process and is currently their candidate for the Maungakiekie electorate.
